SUNDAY 14 AUGUST, 2016 8th Sunday after Pentecost
DORMITION OF THE MOST HOLY MOTHER OF GOD.
Teaching and preparation about the Dormition Fast

With the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church outside Russia in Pakistan, on Sunday August, 14, 2016 after the Divine Liturgy Fr.Joseph Farooq preached the orthodox faithful about Dormition Fasting according to the holy traditions of Mother Church (Russia). The faithful were taught that the commemoration of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos started with strict fasting and abstinence of meat, dairy products, oil and wine. and further the following aspects were preached:

1-The Protectress of human race.
2- The union of the Most Pure Mother of the Lord with Her Son.
3- The relations of the Most Holy Theotokos with holy places.
4- Fasting and orthodox spiritually
5- Role of Apostles and the Archangel Gabriel
5- The plan of High priest to kill the Mother of God
6- The Ikon of Dormition of the most Holy Theotokos was explained.

The faithful were taught that the Dormition Fasting and the beauty sacred traditions provide us a spiritual opportunity to repent and to have reunion with our Heavenly Father as our sins separated us from God. Beside this they asked to honour the Most Holy Mother of God. It is second year for the orthodox faithful in Pakistan to experience and learn about the Dornition Fasting and getting prepared for the feast day on August 2016. They showed keen interest and devotion. They taught that by keeping fast they will come close to Jesus and it will also strengthen their faith and they were also taught that by following the holy traditions, we build our strong spiritual union with our Mother Church (Russia).

“The Dormition of the Righteous Anna, Mother of the Most Holy Theotokos”

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, preaching and the Sunday Divine Liturgy celebrated on Sunday August 07, 2016. Fr. Joseph Farooq preached about the Falling-Asleep (Dormition-Uspenie) of Righteous Anna, Mother of the Most Holy Mother of God: Blessed Anna was the daughter of the priest Nathan and his wife Mary, from the tribe of Levi by descent of Aaron.

According to the sacred tradition, she died peacefully in Jerusalem at age 79, before the Annunciation of the Most Holy Virgin Mary. The Holy relics of Saint Anna work many miracles, especially helping childless mothers with pregnancy issues.
