A Project of Saint Michael the Archangel Orthodox Mission in Pakistan

With the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, Saint Matrona Adult Education Center was started in March 2016. Father Joseph Farooq the administrator of Saint Michael the Archangel Orthodox Mission in Pakistan is administrating an adult education and sewing center for the uplift of poor women in Pakistan and with the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion and with the generous support of our kind donors,

Saint Matrona Adult Education and Sewing Center for women in Pakistan helping the women group in the following fields:

Teaching them to read and write (A Basic Adult Education)
Teaching the Catechism of Eastern Orthodox Church and orthodox prayers
Health and Hygiene and food Preserving
Training of knitting, Cutting and Stitching

Saint Matrona Adult Education and Sewing Center for Poor Women in Pakistan believes that:

“A sewing machine helps the poor women to learn the skills of stitching and to earn butter and bread for their children with honor and respect”.

The women in Pakistan from their birth face injustice, discrimination, poor education and poor nutrition. The poor women in Pakistan face worst situation and many problems and Father Joseph Farooq has started this noble work 3 years ago and he is very hopeful about the progress and development of women group. He is passionate and happy that our Russian Orthodox Church in Pakistan is growing day by day and ROCOR Community is being transformed by the power of the Holy Gospel and teachings of the Mother Church.

Our small effort can bring smile on their faces. Father Joseph Farooq regularly visits the Saint Matrona Adult Education and Sewing Center and taught catechism to the women group. I humbly request you to support our project! a better way after getting basic education and skills of stitching. Your support will shape their better future

THE GLORIOUS RESURRECTION OF JESUS CHRIST

Christ is Risen!

“And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.” (1 Cor.15:14)

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan HILARION, Archbishop of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, on April 08, 2018 the “Joyous Feast of Holy Pascha” celebrated in Pakistan. The Lenten Season helps the Orthodox Christians in Pakistan to experience the fasting practice and abstinence of meat and dairy products. With full devotion and patience the faithful participated in all the Holy Week Services, starting from Palm Sunday; it is the most joyous feasts of the year, as we commemorate the Entrance of our Lord into Jerusalem.

Metropolitan Hilarion’s Paschal Epistle:

Father Joseph representative of ROCOR Mission in Pakistan read the Paschal Epistle of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion. In his Paschal Epistle; His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion greeted the ROCOR Family around the world. This Paschal Epistle is a spiritual support for the Orthodox clergy and faithful as Vladyka wrote in his message: “Christ is Risen! these were the first words with which the Most-Blessed Mother of God, the Apostles, the Women Myrrh-Bearers and other followers of Christ greeted each other, when, after the severe torments, crucifixion, death and the burial of the Saviour, they first learned of His Resurrection”. Some brought forth this joy, saying “Christ is Risen,” and others responded: “The Lord is risen indeed” (Luke 24:34).

His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion encourages the believers on the great feast of the splendid Resurrection of Christ by saying: “And so, remembering the call of the Resurrected Savior, let us all rejoice, let no one remain in sorrow, for “This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Amen.

The Paschal Epistle of our Dear Loving Vladyka Hilarion strengthened the Orthodox Christians in Pakistan as they are victim of social injustice and poverty and deprived of basic human rights. His message is strengthening our faith, fills us with hope to move ahead to make Pakistan a peaceful and just society through our struggle and constant prayers.

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan HILARION, Archbishop of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, I earnestly pray to God that He may provide us the kind and generous donors to buy a land and build the first Holy Russian Orthodox Church in Pakistan and school for Orthodox and Non-Orthodox Christian Children.

Great Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem
The beginning of Holy Week and Spiritual Preparation for the Glorious Resurrection of Christ!

On April 01, 2018, with the blessings of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church outside Russia, the congregation of St. Sergius of Radonezh Orthodox Church Sargodha Pakistan started the Holy Week with the solemn celebrations of Palm Sunday.

Procession: The parishioners gathered around in the circle, where palms were blessed by Fr.Joseph Farooq. The congregation of Pakistani Orthodox worshipers joyfully chanted the Psalms holding the palm branches and proceeded towards the place of worship where Divine Liturgy was celebrated. To mark Jesus’ triumphal entry to Jerusalem in the procession the Orthodox youth and children with full passion and enthusiasm chanted “Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest”.

Divine Liturgy: With the blessings of God we had a Palm Sunday Divine Liturgy; it is a true blessing and joy for the faithful as they receive the Holy Communion. Fr. Joseph Farooq preached the homily of St. John Chrysostom. During the Divine Liturgy special prayers were offered for peace in suffering land of Pakistan and Middle East and other parts of the world; we also offered prayers for the health and many good years of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, for the Orthodox clergy and faithful all over the world.

Fr. Joseph said in his sermon to the faithful that it is the beauty of Orthodox traditions to begin the spiritual preparation for Holy Pascha with Great Lent and forty days of fasting, he further said that Russian Orthodox Church teaches us the practicality of forgiveness, repentance and our day to day spiritual journey with our Savior, the Risen Lord Jesus. Towards the end of the preaching Fr. Joseph Farooq humbly directed the faithful: “Prepare yourself and be strong in your faith as the evil forces of the world threatening the peace and bring huge damage to the humans.

“Blessed are we that have not seen, and yet have believed” Glory to Jesus! Holy Orthodoxy is growing day by day and number of persons from various backgrounds is becoming interested in the Orthodox Church.
