He told the faithful that we all sin, and sin completely separates us from God and for our reunion every Orthodox Christian needs repentance and true repentance make us humble bring us closer to God and to our brothers and sisters. Further Fr. Joseph told the faithful that it is important that during the Great Lent Season we must abstain from certain foods and we try to strengthen our spiritual life by reading the life of holy saints, following the sacred traditions of Eastern Orthodox Church and your daily family prayer at your homes. “The Day of Joy and Blessing” (January 07) For Pakistani Orthodox Christians:

It is worth mentioning that the Christmas Lent is a favourable time in which we need to bring the fruits of repentance and prayer. During the Nativity Lent the ROCOR priest Fr. Joseph Farooq started celebrating Divine Liturgy for those people who live in the far-flung areas of Sargodha as it is difficult for them to come the main parish office to attend the regular Sunday Divine Liturgy but they participate on the major feast days with full devotion and joy and preached forty days of fasting to the orthodox believers. All the religious services on New Year and on Christmas Day were full of orthodox worshippers in Pakistan.
