Mrs. Gladys Rose Mary Principal School of Nursing DHQ Jhelum was invited to provide information and basic awareness on women’s health through her speech and group discussion. In Pakistan women and children are the most vulnerable segments in terms of health. Majority of poor women suffer from iron deficiency anemia, which cause complications of pregnancy and childbirth. Beside this Women and adult girls suffer from malnutrition and are not properly looked after.
The most significant factors effecting women’s health are poor hygiene, poverty, poor living conditions, lack of proper health facilities, lack of education and awareness.
The purpose of this seminar was to cover all those factors which become the main cause of poor health of women.
The following areas were highlighted:
Health of mother and children
Balanced diet
Cleanliness
Personal hygiene
Awareness and prevention of common diseases and epidemics
Feedback and discussion
General check up of women
This seminar promoted a very healthy and positive effect among the women as they learnt a lot from it. They also promised to implement it practically in their families.
In the end Mrs. Gladys Rose informed Fr. Joseph Farooq that most of the women were anemic and some were having chronicle diseases like whooping cough, tuberculosis, blood pressure and infertility problems.
Fr. Joseph Farooq is intending to provide proper medical check up from the lady doctor so that their medical issues can be solved and they may enjoy a healthy life along with their families. Further it is also planned that these kinds of awareness seminars will be conducted on the regular basis in future.
